During the macho ice storm of 2013, the East River, and everything in it froze solid, creating a perfect drag strip. The Deth Killers put special spikes in their tires in order to drag race the entire length of Roosevelt Island. Yeah, the city was deserted, the infrastructure destroyed, and they had baby polar bears instead of girlfriends, but the iced-over drag strip was worth it. The Turbo GSX-R 1000 pictured above broke 200 mph that summer, and this guy just got off his bike and starting eating his beef jerky like it was no big deal. Good thing Malcolm was around to sketch it as it was happening otherwise this special image may have been lost forever. |
